The creative process that shaped this video installation involves play and free association. Language and subjects from Man Ray’s imagination are reenacted in an alternate order, giving rise to new surreal and dreamlike compositions. Man Ray’s art comes to life in a dynamic fresco that reprises the same Dadaist perspective on the world, but seen through contemporary eyes.
The music is inspired by Dadaist collage. Fragmented and seemingly random, the piece combines sounds from instruments like the synthesizer and analog-inspired sounds; it pays homage to early 20th-century composers and includes a few seconds of a 1940s jazz ballad played in reverse, creating a kind of sonic ready-made.
